Bolongna, Italy
On top of a tilting Medieval tower, the De Torri, a snapshot of the city at an angle.

Southeast from Kenema, Sierra Leone; very close to Liberia border
The pitted and muddy road in this picture is the only road that goes from Kenema, Sierra Leone (population about 150,000) to Monrovia, Liberia (population about 1,000,000). This area was controlled by Sierra Leonean rebels. It is diamond country and the atrocities portrayed in Blood Diamond do not come close to the reality of what civilians faced. The guy toting wood on his head in the rain is, to me, a perfect symbol of Sierra Leone's herculean efforts to carry on.
Leah Carmical
St. Malo, France
Though it was a February day on the English Channel, it was temperate enough for the residents of St. Malo to venture out of their walled city for a walk on a blustery beach. These two figures caught my attention.

Figueres, Spain
A ceiling painting by Dali taken with a panorama setting.
Lauren Cox
North of Spain
The first night/day of my camino de Santiago through the North of Spain.

On a bridge in front of Notre Dame in Paris
Couples in France began the tradition of locking locks to two bridges in Paris. Some would have the couples names, but others would have phrases. I liked these two togher because it had lips on one and Je t'aime on the other, which means 'I love you'.
Kristen Englert
Manarola, Italy
I took this picture during my first adventure alone in my life. My “goal” on the trip was to take great photography, speak only Italian, eat whatever you want. I was hiking back to Mananola for the night; the sun was setting and I set up to capture this piquresque scene.
Macon Foscue
Landmannalaugar , Iceland
A field of white flowers beneath Rhyolite mountains in southern Iceland. Taken during a two day 55 km hike, known as the Landmannalaugar.
Benjamin Fowler
Cordoba, Argentina
This picture was taken at the Talleres futbol stadium on a Saturday at Dusk with hardly any room to move. I took this shot with one hand and threw confetti along with the other hinchas (fans) for the welcoming of the team onto the field. It was an explosion of emotion.

Iris Gottlieb
Border of Switzerland and Italy
I took this photo during a 200 km trek around the Mont-Blanc Massif; this shot was taken crossing from Switzerland to Italy.
Heidi Hendrix
County Clare, Ireland
"Cliffs of the ruin" located in the parish of Liscannor at the south-western edge of the Burren area near Doolin, which is located in County Clare, Ireland. The cliffs rise 120 meters (309 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean at Hat's Head and reach their maximum height of 214 meters (702 ft) just north of O'Brien's Tower, eight kilometers away. On a clear day, the Aran Islands are visible in Galway Bay, as are the valleys and hills of Connemara.
Brianna LaRouche
Florence, Italy
A view from standing in the center of the Promenade of the river and buildings lining it.

Strolling through the Bavarian countryside.

Hirakatashi, Japan
While not as celebrated as the cherry blossoms the plum blossoms still draw crowds of people. Entire fields turn pink and white marking the end of winter.

Alexandra Ponton
Zaanse Schans Windmill-Village, Holland
This photo was taken on a very cold September day while on a tour of the outskirts of Amsterdam. Somehow that dreary scene became something very beautiful and tranquil.
Lindsay Sager
Honduras
The view of my hike during my trip to Honduras.
Allyson Ropp
Esphesus, Turkey
The library of Ephesus was reconstructed focusing on the details under the roof in the sunlight.

Leah Shapiro
London, England by the Thames River
This photo shows St. Paul's Cathedral in London. To the right is the Millenium Bridge. Behind the photographer (me) is Tate Modern. The funny thing about London, they say, is that all the museums are free, but all the churches you have to pay to, go in. I thought the banner was aptly fitting just because everywhere I went in London, things looked straight out of a paintily, even in this modern world.

Nicholas Stemkowski
Istanbul, Turkey
A view of the front of the Sultan Ahmet Mosque from its surrounding courtyard, as a fountain rises.
Amelia Solkoff
Stockhorn, Switzerland
Looking into the Swiss Alps from the top of Stockhorn, a mountain in the first range of the Swiss Alps.
Rosa Maria Pedro Vicente
Las Alpujarras, Spain
The image is of towns located along the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Many of the homes are painted white because of weather conditions, especially during th esummer when it gets extremely hot.

Iguazu Falls on a beautiful day.

Holly Young
Kuusisaari, Oulu, Finland
On my way to Vulcanalia, the annual start-of-the semester, fall kick-off festival. This was taken at around 7 o'clock. The sun is very beautiful here when it's out, which is becoming rarer and rarer.
