We want study abroad to be doable by all UNC Asheville students. While we ask you to pay an Application/Program Fee, you can seek an exemption if you are a Pell Eligible student by emailing ldobson@unca.edu.
The following fees should be paid directly to Student Accounts:
- UNC Asheville Exchange programs: $200
- UNC Asheville Partner Programs (summer, semester or AY) $200
- Faculty-Led Programs: $300
UNC Asheville Partner Programs may charge additional application and program fees.
UNC Asheville Faculty-Led application/program fees are due, only if and after you are admitted to the program and at the same time as your first program fee payment or deposit.

Summer 2025 Application Deadlines
- UNC Asheville: February 4, 2025
- Gilman International Scholarship Application: March 7, 2025; The Gilman Program offers scholarships of up to $5,000 to Pell Grant recipients participating in credit-bearing abroad programs in locations with Level 1 or Level 2 Travel Advisories, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs. This cycle encompasses Maymester 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, Academic Year 2025-2026, and Spring 2026 programs or internships.
Fall 2025 Application Deadlines
- Boren Scholarship Deadline: January 31, 2025; The Boren Scholarship offers Scholarships and Fellowships focusing on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad.
